Pancakes and Chicken

Today I am cooking and serving a pancake breakfast with the Lions Club in our community. This is something I have been doing for the past 3 years. As the only Black member of the Lions in our community (there are only about 3 Black families in the whole county!) I stand out as well as believe I have a duty to bring understanding to the predominately older whites I work with and serve. Sometimes it can be really hard.

You see, basically these people are cowards. Chicken!

They won't or can't face the facts that they discriminate against me over and over again. In little ways, you know. Like the time I worked hard on the fair board only to have my name be the only one NOT included on the list of those who volunteered. I was pissed. I also bitched about it and got an insincere applology from the culprit.

I love living where I do. I love the rural atmosphere and the beauty of the surrounding wilderness. But, I get sick of the discrimination. Like we all do.

America the Racist?
Is the Obama – Clinton battle the truth of America?
A new Ebook by H. J. Harris

America the Racist? by author H. J. Harris is a Must Read for white and black Americans as the 2008 presidential election unfolds.
This 172 page Ebook sets forth a concise, easy to read, historical, spiritual, and psychological treatment of Racism in America - its causes, evolution, and possibilities for the future. Once we understand why we are where we are as a nation, then we are better equipped to determine what we must do to become the “one Nation under God” described in Dr. King’s dream and the Pledge of Allegiance.
As we experience the political battle between Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton, the issue of race in America continually takes center stage. Sometime the race issue is front and center as with the comments of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s minister for many years.
Have you wondered why the response of many white Americans to Rev. Wright’s comments was anger, disgust, and vicious attacks on his patriotism? White Americans rarely dealt with the historical context in which Rev. Wright’s comments were made.
Mr. Harris’ Ebook, America the Racist?, gives a detailed treatment of the historical aspects of Rev. Wright’s comments and why many black Americans who have felt the pain of injustice, discrimination, and racism could identify with much of what he said.
White Americans could not understand the rage that Rev. Wright expressed in his sermon because, to paraphrase the words of Frederick Douglas, they have never spent one day as a slave, as a second-class citizen, as the victim of vicious, ungodly racism.
America the Racist? is extremely important as this presidential campaign evolves. People will be seeking to understand subtle forms of racism like the “Bradley Factor”. When Tom Bradley ran for Governor of California in 1982, the polls were showing a comfortable lead for certain victory. When the votes were counted, B
